From A to Z: Digital Surgical Guide — Course Review, Ankara

On October 31, we held the one-day hands-on course “From A to Z: Digital Surgical Guide” with our partner Denta Solaris Academy in Ankara. It was our second joint training in the city, after the July 2026 course, and every place was filled. The course was for clinicians who want one connected digital implant workflow instead of separate steps.

One workflow, from scan to superstructure

MSc. Dr. Armin Tavana led the day. He began by mapping the full CAD-CAM workflow:

• the clinic, with an intraoral scan or a physical impression
• the CAD lab, with the lab scanner and design software
• production, by 3D printing or milling
• the results: implant planning and surgical guides, prosthetic restorations and orthodontic work

The main point was that every stage depends on the one before it. A surgical guide is only as accurate as the scan and plan behind it, and that accuracy matters only if it reaches the final restoration.

From guided surgery to the prosthetic phase

The program covered:

• the fundamentals of guided surgery and digital planning
• how to design, produce and verify surgical guides
• intraoral scanning on implants
• prosthetic planning and superstructure design

Theory sessions alternated with practical discussion, and participants brought their own cases into the conversation.

XGATE libraries in the digital workflow

The prosthetic part of the course is where our own work comes in. Dr. Tavana showed XGATE compatible abutments inside the design software and explained how our digital libraries turn a planned case into a predictable restoration. He also presented the XGATE V-Type Multi-Unit system, which is compatible with 50+ implant platforms and designed for passive fit between the base connection, the titanium sleeve and the multi-unit component.
